Sawbo v FC Romania

Sawbo host Spartan South Midland League FC Romania this afternoon at 3pm at Crofters.

The last time the two teams met was back in March and resulted in a defeat for Sawbo to a 59th minute goal from FCR's Zubayr Faisal Boadi. The match had been evenly contested throughout, rather in common with much of last seasons matches, especially towards the latter part of the season.
Sawbo probably deserved a draw for much of their performance but just couldn't go the extra inch against opposition who were just too strong where it mattered on the pitch - that is in front of goal when presented with a rare chance.

Last season there were a lot of matches like that, not the least because of resource - look at the eventual SSML League Champions, Real Bedford. During the season they announced a £3 million plus investment from their new owner/investors! Many of the Clubs played against had substantial annual First XI budgets to work with.
Sawbo, for those who don't know, are a Club principally self-funded, reliant on the community for income almost exclusively, running multiple teams throughout the age groups who contribute substantially. A real Community operation.
The Club structure is voluntary. Sponsorship is hard to come by these days and the numbers through the door are crucial, so todays match needs to be a big one and strong support will make so much difference to the players.
Something to bear in mind: In 2020, FC Romania announced the following on X (formerly Twitter) :
"We are delighted to announce an amazing new sponsorship deal of £750,000 across 5 years with Romanian-owned civil engineering company, SF Stephan."
A strong financial base on which to build their team.
So any support that the lads get today is really important to perhaps help shift the goalposts back towards us - lets get behind our team Sawbridgeworth - after all, its our Team.
